Stike a Balance

To strike a balanace or not to........or rather how to.......... Its been quite a while that I hit the blog, well many things kept me busy but the calling to write always comes especially when I start introspecting which btw never ceases!!
"Striking balance" has always been overrated in more ways than one. There are times when I feel this is just a garb for making sacrifices (oh so many!!)........in order to buy peace.
The art of sweet talking or rather talking bull cr***(pardon my language) is what is attaining balance in one's life.I grew up seeing my Mum - being literally mum.... the one who had much more reislience, more depth, efficient in all aspects and with oodles of patience in her...........(which I use to just not agree with in my rebel days!!!!!!!!!) Now i look up to her with awe and respect since I now know the value and the strength that one requires to exude such patience in one's life.
Now when I get encountered with situations wherein "I need to strike a balance"....my first reaction still is ***** it/him/her, ***** the world and all those profounities that one can think of:) and then I just sit down and ponder and sometimes even think of those big bearded orange clad sadhus who come on television and teach meditationn.............put on my meeker and weaker clothes and get on with it......why????? in order to strike a balance.
MPS (Multiple Personality Syndrome) - I guess that is how this has taken birth.....

Not worth a title

Has education done us any good or are we still living in the clutches of the society where Women are considered to be lesser mortals.

Are women lesser mortals? Who decides this, men or other women only?

This patricharchial society is fed by the glorious men and also those women who have been subjected to such pressures and were deprived (or chose to follow such idiocrancies!!!!!!!!) of their existence by men. So it is a never ending horribly woven web created by us, where “US“strangely represents both men and women. Change in humans or the universe has always caused ripples.

A change in the wind pattern, in the change in the position of sun / moon, a change in the waves, a change in the climatic conditions, a change which a woman tries to bring as opposed to the whining, old, illogical stick of the earlier generation, which is only bathed with the arrogance and a high headedness.

Women are now Executive Directors / Partners in corporates holding top notch positions, judges, pilots, CM, PM's but the position in the Indian society is still the same. Recently Mrs. Hillary Clinton was India and she said, growth of India is not possible without the growth of women. Its high time, woman should come out of their protected, hypocrite shells and bring a positive change in the society. Shun those men and women who are a threat to this positive growth and move ahead.

Sports

Do children of this age play enough sport? Do they gain from this? How does one encourage their involvement in sports?

Sports do more than just contribute to a child's physical development. Children in schools today are increasingly overburdened with academics. Most parents make all efforts to get them to excel at studies. However, going with the popular saying, 'all work and no play' is not necessarily the best strategy to improve a child's performance at school. However, it is important that a child enjoys the sport he plays. Forcing a child into sports may put him off the idea of playing completely.

For children to grow and develop into healthy individuals there needs to be a reasonable balance between work and play. Sports play an important part in the development of children.

I remember when we were young, we use to get back from school, finish lunch and hit the desk to study / finish homework in anticipation that in the evening we will go down to play, failing which we were not allowed to go down. I use to live in Camac Street in a multistory building with two blocks and ten floors each, minimum 3-4 flats per floor so the number of children to play in the evenings were humongous.

We had this huge badminton court where there was proper light arrangements and we all use to meet there at about 5:30 / 6:00 pm and play till 8/8:30 pm, unless being cruelly called by respective parents for dinner!!; and Saturday / Sundays were usually morning time. This was my ritual everyday from maybe Class 1 or 2 till Class 10, after which I shifted to another place, joined college, got married and the usual stuff followed.

From my personal experience I feel participation in sports helps children to:

1. Maintain good health: Unlike academics, sport is both physical and cerebral. Involvement in sports helps children develop physically. Outdoor sports encourage them to be out in the open air. The discipline associated with sports teaches them healthy habits such as right eating and exercising.

2. Cultivate team spirit: Most outdoor games involve teamwork. They teach children how to coordinate with peers to fulfill a common task or accomplish a common goal. This involves superior communication skills, the capacity to assess situations, and the ability to take immediate and critical decisions. Children will require these skills when they finish school and step out into the professional world.

3. Become confident: Taking part in sports can boost children's morale. Children realise that being selected to represent their school in a tournament is an honor and a responsibility.(I went on to become my Red Team vice caption in school !!) Their ability to fulfill this responsibility instills confidence in them. Children who are into sports are known to display confidence in other areas of their life, such as academics, making friends, and relationships with adults.

4. Cope with failure: Sports is as much about winning as about losing. It helps children not just to accept failures, but also to learn from them. (Now at this stage when I look back, I realise yes, this is so true. Participation in sports taught me to cultivate perseverance and single-mindedly pursue my goals. )

Sports are not just about beating an opponent; it is about surpassing individual capacities. Playing a competitive sport helps children to know their limitations and work towards overcoming them.

Although now when I ponder in those old lanes, I feel sad that I don’t have time (or rather not taken time out) for sports anymore. I am sucked in the mundane aspects of life and career through which I have forgotten the joys I got playing badminton, volleyball and so many other races.

Well, this article has certainly brought back memories which maybe I should give it a serious thought as and when my health permits!!

Hope

This article is dedicated to Emily Dickinson's poem, 'Hope'.

Hope is an unconditional belief of something good accompanied with an expectation of obtaining it. Often life's frustrations leave a silence in our souls but hope awaits to uplift the present and future. In the poem, "Hope' is the thing with feathers--...," hope is viewed through a bird.

Hope

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Unanswered questions.

Things will never be same again, no matter how hard I try or whatever I do. There are certain questions, to which there are no answers.
Would we ever get an answer to those mindless killings in Mumbai last year or to the rape and murder of under fives which I read in the news papers almost every day.
A family of 3, father mother and daughter go on a holiday, on the way to the destination are smashed to death on the raod, all dead.
A child who goes to school like any other day, never to return to his parents again. He is kidnapped and brutally killed by the perpetrators. The Mother is still waiting I guess.
Early morning, last year today, when my son was snatched away from me due to a demon called "CHD" and the defeated look on Dr. Raghuvanshi's face when he came out of the ICU with just one phrase, "He is no more, I am sorry! Sorry is such a shallow word anyways. The signs which I get sometimes, that he is around.
The answers are just not there.

Life

When I was a young girl of 16 years, Life was a fairly land - full of varied bright colors. When I was 18 years of age, Life was rocking and happening! When I was 21 years, Life seemed promising, with so much to offer. When I was 24 years of age, it seemed like I would conquer Life.

Now I am 27 years and…………. Life seems so real (good / bad immaterial).

But what is life? I guess no one knows. Its bright and sunny, wild and rocking, dull and a deep pit sometimes. We look forward to each new day, bright sun, moon, trees, flowers, clutch of a finger from a baby, snuggle of a dog, hug from a dear one, smile on a face of child and so much more.

The fear of being in this Life is hand in hand with the charm of being in this life!
Cheers to Life…

Life after Death

Surely there exists an invisible body with consciousness within our visible physical body. When one is dead,i.e.,when the physical body is no longer viable for the soul(the invisible body) to stay in, the soul gets out of the body and according to their status of death, e.g.,suicide, accident, natural death, etc. they are permitted to be around in the world.

There is the physical universe and there is the universe of consciousness. Science and its various divisions deal with them. Is there a commonality of these two universes? Both these universes ultimately is energy. It could be that just as our bodies (when buried) retain an identity until over time decay makes it merge totally with the physical universe (earth), our minds after death retain their identity and over time merge into the universal consciousness.

According to Vedas - soul according to its good or bad deeds takes bodies of animals, birds, insects etc., or bodies of Rishis, Munis, which are the best bodies - after leaving the present body. The soul which is duly attached with its own power of taking birth according to pious deeds and sins, enters other bodies. Though the soul is away from death, being immortal, but after death of bodies, takes new bodies. These ideas of Vedas has very well been mentioned in Bhagwat Geeta as well - the soul never takes birth and is eternal, in fact after death of body too soul is never dead. This process of death and birth of bodies and souls is eternal.

Vedas further states that soul and bodies goes far away to different directions [soul goes to sun etc., {given below} and then takes birth and get another body and five elements of bodies goes to space and are mixed within air, fire etc.. Death is sure i.e., the body will have to be cremated one day. He (God) who makes the body, He destroys the same one day. When the soul leaves the body then the soul wanders in so many places, takes another body according to its previous deeds (karmas).

'Yamdut' means = 'YAM' means God, and 'dut' means storm, cyclone, flood, earthquake, heavy rains, etc. So when a soul is to leave a body then -air enters the body and takes the soul out of it. The soul after leaving the body first day goes to Savita (sun), second day agnihi (fire), third Vaayu (normal air), fourth Aditya, fifth chandrma (moon), sixth ritu (seasons), seventh marutah, eighth brihaspati (tiniest air), ninth mitrah (breathing), tenth varunah (udan air), eleventh indrah (electricity), twelfth Vishvedevah (in all divine qualities). Then, after wandering in sky, gets body according to previous deeds. Once these twelve days are completed, after 13 days the soul takes another body.

Normally soul after getting a body, faces the result of its past lives' deeds and under influence of illusion (duly attracted towards illusion) does sins and again gets birth to face the sins. The soul is immortal and always separate from body. However, only when an aspirant meets with a learned Preacher / Acharya and gets spiritual education, then only the soul gets salvation.
